How The Soil Maker™ Works — Alchemy Pot™
The Soil Maker™

How ItWorks

Bury it. Feed it. Spread it.
The yard gets more alive every time.

1
Installation

Dig a hole.
Bury the bottom half.

Three steps illustrated: Dig a hole, Install the Soil Maker, Feed the earth
Three steps

Dig a hole. Set the bottom chamber in so its base holes touch the surrounding earth. Place the top piece on. The vessel is now part of the ground — ready to receive food scraps from above and feed the soil below.

The Soil Maker™ is made in two pieces. The bottom piece — a round stoneware chamber with small holes around its base — goes underground. The top piece rises above the soil line.

  1. 1Dig a hole deep enough for the bottom chamber to sit fully below the soil line
  2. 2Place the bottom chamber so the holes in its base make contact with the surrounding earth
  3. 3Fill soil back around it so it sits firmly in place
  4. 4Set the top piece on — the narrow neck and wide bowl rise above the ground
  5. 5Place it near where you want the garden to grow

What Happens Underground

Drop scraps in.
The earth does the rest.

Drop food scraps into the wide bowl at the top — vegetable peels, fruit rinds, coffee grounds, eggshells. They fall into the buried chamber. Worms and microorganisms already living in your soil enter through the holes in the base.

The worms move in and out continuously — eating scraps inside the chamber, carrying broken-down nutrients back out through the holes into surrounding soil. They do the distribution work themselves, feeding the ground with every pass.

Bacteria and fungi work alongside them. Over two to eight weeks, scraps become living soil that feeds the roots of whatever's growing above.

The Maintenance Cycle

Every 3–6 months —
empty it and spread.

Think of it like sourdough. You feed it regularly, and every 3–6 months you empty it out. Lift the top piece. Scoop the composted soil from the buried chamber. Spread it into nearby holes you've dug in the garden.

Early on — before the worm culture is established — go gradual. Small consistent amounts work better than large batches. Once the culture is going, the worms handle the breakdown themselves.

Every time you empty and spread into new holes, you're extending the reach of the living system. The whole yard gets richer over time.

Feed it consistently. Empty every 3–6 months. Spread into nearby holes. The more you spread, the more of your yard comes alive.

01 Feed

Small consistent amounts, regularly

02 Wait

2–8 weeks for scraps to become soil

03 Empty

Lift the top, scoop the composted soil

04 Spread

Dig nearby holes, distribute into them

The Network

Build paths. Connect the worms.
Make patterns.

Each Soil Maker™ you install becomes a centre of underground activity. As you spread composted soil into nearby holes every 3–6 months, you're building physical paths — tunnels and trails the worms follow between vessels, carrying nutrients as they move.

Over time those paths connect. Worm activity from one vessel reaches another. Fungal networks touch. What starts as individual vessels becomes one living underground system across the whole yard.

Connect the Pots Place them in patterns that connect vessel to vessel — triangles, grids, spirals, rows. The pattern becomes a living map of your garden's underground life.
